  1. Dear Lee,

An important article that needs to be read by as many as possible. Perhaps you can provide a link to it in next Monday’s Message and find other outlets, such as summaries in local community newspapers, radio and TV interviews, etc. As we approach the next four turbulent years, I think the message ought to be not to engage the lies, deceptions, etc. as if we were on the same planet with those supporting those lies and deceptions, because we are not, but to fasten our seatbelts and see what we, as lawyers, can do to help people directly threatened by the policies that will unfold in short order. I don’t want to argue with people who say it is nighttime when the sun is shining in the daytime or who say the sun is shining when it is nighttime. It is not helpful to my mental health or wits (or what is left of them). And, if I don’t have the particular legal skills to deal with particular issues, such as immigration law, I want to support those who do in whatever way I can. I want to brace myself for the horrors that are coming and distract myself as best I can by listening to music, reading books, escaping to my cabin in the woods, and being with friends. To do otherwise is not to follow the advice in your well-written article. Best, Alan
